Plants in the Air
Pen & Ink 2023

This project named “Plants in Air” is created in the medium pen & ink. For this project, I drew a bunch of plants that differ in shape, type, length, and width. The pots and strings also differ from each other. I added many plants to give this project a full and complete look to it.
The two elements I used were color and value. Color is made up of three properties which is hue, value, and intensity. You will find color everywhere in this project, like you do in every piece of art. Value is the lightness or darkness of a color which is found everywhere. There is value where I shaded the objects. The two principles I used were balance and proportion. Balance is the distribution of the visual weight of objects, colors, space, and texture. You can see how each pot is balanced. Proportion is the dimensions of a composition and relationships between height, width, and depth. The size of the plants are proportionate to the size of the pots.

Wall Decor
Watercolor, Pen & Ink
2023
This project “Plant Decor” is created in two mediums which are watercolor and pen and ink. I chose to draw this picture because the theme for all my projects is plants. This picture was taken from my room, and I designed this decor set up all by myself. There are 3 hexagon shelves that are all different sizes with a different plant on each one to make it look nice!
The two elements I used in this project were shape and line. Shape is an element of art that is two-dimensional, flat, or limited to height and width. You can find shape where there are objects. Line is a path made by a moving point through space. You can see that line is on the outline of everything. The two principles I used were variety and unity. Variety is when an artist places different visual elements next to one another. Variety in this project is all the plant pedals. Unity is separate parts working together in a composition. You will find unity because the plants, pots, and hexagon shelves all work together to form this picture.

Winter Bloom
Color Pencil 2022
This surrealism project called “Winter Bloom“ is created in the medium of colored pencil. It is not only surreal because there is a penguin rollerblading on an iceberg in the middle of the ocean, but the icebergs are also growing flowers out of them. I chose a penguin because they are one of my favorite animals. I added rollerblades to it because I personally love rollerblading in the summer. Lastly, I added flowers because flowers are my favorite thing to draw.
The two elements I used are texture and space. Texture is found on the penguin’s fur. Texture refers to the way an object feels to the touch or looks as it may feel if it were touched. Space can be found in the area between all the flowers. Space refers to the distance or areas around, between, and within components of a piece. The two principles I used were movement and unity. Movement can be found where the penguin is rollerblading on the ice. Movement is when motion is overtly or observably depicted in the artwork. Unity can be found in the flower bundles. Unity is about separate parts working together in a composition.

Me Smiling Because
Summer is Here
Charcoal 2022
Series Name: Mother Nature
This project called “Me Smiling Because Summer is Here” is created in the medium of charcoal. I chose to use this picture because it’s one of my favorite selfies. There is so much happiness in my face. This picture was taken outside of the school on the last day of my sophomore year. I’m smiling because summer was finally here! I was relieved to be done with school because I took many hard stressful classes.
The two elements I used are line and value. Line was used in the hair. Line is a path made by a moving point through space. Value was used in creating my facial features. Value describes the lightness or darkness of a surface. The two principles I used are emphasis and proportion. My face is the emphasis of the piece of artwork. Emphasis is the special attention given to one part of a work of art. This artwork is proportioned to my reference picture. Proportion is the dimensions of a composition and relationships between height, width, and depth.

For these projects, I created a series of stickers called “Mother Nature.” I created this theme of stickers because my favorite time of year is when winter has finally come to an end, flowers start to bloom, and butterflies and bees come out. The first sticker I drew was a bumblebee. I chose a bumblebee because I think they are cute although they can be mean sometimes. The last two stickers I drew were of a butterfly and flower. I chose them because of how pretty they are!
The two elements I used were form and color. Form is used in all three of these stickers because they each have a three-dimensional look. Form refers to objects that are three-dimensional, or have length, width, and height. Color is also used in these three stickers. Color is an element consisting of hues, of which there are three properties: hue, chroma, or intensity, and value. The two principles I used were balance and pattern. Balance occurs because each sticker has parts that balance out the drawing. Balance is the distribution of the visual weight of objects, colors, texture, and space. Pattern is used in the bee sticker on the body where the colors yellow and black repeat. Pattern is a design in which lines, shapes, forms, or colors are repeated.

Trailing Plant
Color Pencil
2023 Final
The name of my artwork is called Trailing Plant, in the medium of color pencil. In this project, you see a beautiful hanging plant. The type of plant that you see here is called philodendron. It’s one of the top best hanging plants because it grows to be very long and has beautiful leaves. This type of plant comes in many varieties with diverse shades of color and shapes of leaves. Plants bring feelings of vitality and improve the state of mind. The subliminal effect of plants has an effect that lifts the spirit and brings happiness. An environment that has natural elements and plants tends to bring positive outlook on life and it boosts people into feeling more alive and active. Not only do these plants enhance the overall appearance of a space, but studies show they can boost your mood, increase creativity, reduce stress, and eliminate air pollutants. These plants don’t only look good but make us feel wonderful.
A British Postwar & Contemporary painter, Raymond Booth, inspired me to make this piece. A lot of his paintings were of bird life and British mammals. He also devoted himself to making painting of plants. The plants were more particularly ones that could be grown in gardens or greenhouses and also some that were suitable for background vegetation for his naturalistic animal studies. Seeing all of his plant paintings was incredible and inspired me to make this plant drawing. This work relates very much to my past work. In my previous pieces of art, I have been practicing drawing all types of plants and hanging plants. My overall vision of this piece is this healthy plant with firm leaves and strong roots, but I added a little bit of different colors to make the plants look more realistic. If this plant was real, I would definitely hang it up in my room.
Very private and possessing an obsessive work ethic and passion for the natural world, Raymond Booth earned a reputation as one of the greatest botanical painters and illustrators. He rarely ever left his Yorkshire home. He ignored the more fashionable modernist principles of the early mid-twentieth century and instead produced beautiful, intense compositions in oil of British flora and fauna that rival the finest Victorian followers of the genre. Raymond Booth was born in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, on 8 August 1929, to John Booth, a member of the local police force, and his wife Margaret Edna. When Raymond was still a young child, the family moved from their first home in the crowded streets of central Leeds, to Fearnville Place, in the leafy suburb of Roundhay. Just a short walk from his childhood home was Roundhay Park, the second largest urban park in Europe, comprised of over 700 acres of parkland, lakes and woodland. In 1946, he won a scholarship to Leeds College of Art at the age of seventeen. Then in 1953, he graduated from that college and began exhibiting at the Fine Art Society in 1962. In 2011, an exhibition was held at the Fine Art Society to celebrate his 50 years as a gallery artist, in which he only visited once in his lifetime.
